Allie Grella

Allie GrellaI am currently a PhD candidate in Dr. Tanja Dominko’s lab at WPI in the Biology and Biotechnology department. Our lab is focused on understanding the mechanisms involved in the acquisition of a pro-regenerative phenotype in human dermal fibroblasts.

My research focuses on the investigation of the relationship between basic fibroblast growth factor FGF2 and extracellular matrix and adhesion molecule profile while gaining a more pro-regenerative phenotype. I investigate molecular mechanisms involved in regulation of collagen-I binding integrin alpha-11 and how loss of integrin-alpha 11 binding of collagen-I may be priming human dermal fibroblasts for a transition towards a more pro-regenerative phenotype.
