Martina Bergant Marusic

Martina Bergant Marusi My current research work is focused on the non-structural properties of the HPV minor capsid protein L2. I am investigating the role of L2 in the virus infectious processes and molecular mechanisms by which viral genome is trafficked from cell membrane to the nucleus. Related to this is the study of L2 peptides capable of blocking transmission of the cutaneous HPV types. I am also studying post-translational regulation of the L2 protein by sumoylation and phosphorylation and its role in the capsid formation. Additionally, I am involved in the anti-microbial evaluation of the TiO2-based photocatalytic surfaces.
